Executing a Left Turn After Stopping
Turning left from a complete stop is one of the most critical foundational skills evaluated during a practical driving license examination.
It requires precise synchronization of vehicle mechanical controls (clutch and gear coordination) combined with acute situational awareness (mirror checks, blind spot checks, and observations).
Failure to perform these checks in the correct chronological order is a common reason for losing marks or failing the driving test.

Following these steps
1. Select First Gear
The Action:Depress the clutch pedal fully to the floor and smoothly shift the gear lever into first gear.

2. Obtain Clutch Control
The Action: Slowly raise the clutch pedal until you feel the engine RPM drop slightly and the vehicle begins to vibrate gently. This is known as the "friction point" or "biting point."

3. Check the Mirrors
The Action: Conduct a deliberate look into your interior rearview mirror, followed by your left exterior side mirror.

4. Check the Blind Spots
The Action: Turn your head sharply over your left shoulder to check the blind spot area not covered by your mirrors.

5. Check for Cross-Traffic
The Action: Look right, look ahead, look left, and look right again across the intersection.

6. Release Parking Brake (Handbrake)
The Action: If the intersection is entirely clear and it is safe to proceed, press the release button, drop the handbrake completely down, and smoothly transition your right foot from the brake to the accelerator.

7. Move Off
The Action: Gently press down on the accelerator while simultaneously and smoothly releasing the remaining pressure on the clutch pedal.

8. Steer Around the Corner
The Action: Turn the steering wheel to the left using the professional "push-pull" method to guide the vehicle into the correct lane.

9. Accelerate Smoothly
The Action: Straighten the steering wheel as you exit the turn and gradually increase pressure on the accelerator to match the speed of the new road.

10. Check the Mirrors
The Action: Look into your interior rearview mirror and your right exterior mirror after completing the turn.

11. Cancel Signal
The Action: Ensure your left indicator signal has automatically cancelled. If it hasn't, manually flick it back to the neutral position.
