Pre-Trip Vehicle Inspection - Exterior Check
Before entering the vehicle, the examiner will accompany you while you perform a pre-trip exterior inspection of the vehicle.
This inspection is conducted to ensure that the vehicle is roadworthy and safe to operate.
Minor defects may, at the examiner's discretion, be corrected during the inspection.
However, no additional time will be granted for any corrections made.
If any component being inspected is found to be defective, inoperative, or unsafe, the vehicle may be declared unroadworthy, resulting in an immediate failure of the test.

You will NOT be penalised for the following:

Conducting the pre-trip inspection in a clockwise direction instead of an anti-clockwise direction.

Failing to lift the windscreen wipers away from the windscreen.

Inspecting only one wheel initially and mentioning the remaining wheels afterward.

Failing to inspect both sidewalls of a tyre for damage.

Examiner Assessment

As long as it is clear to the examiner that you have properly checked and paid attention to the required vehicle components, whether specifically mentioned or not, you will receive credit for the inspection.
The purpose of the inspection is to demonstrate:
