The Yard Manoeuvres
Alley Docking cont:
Once the examiner has instructed you to begin the alley docking maneuver, follow the correct K53 procedure to reverse safely into the bay while maintaining full observation and vehicle control.
Entering the Bay (Left-Hand Side)
Observation Before Moving Off
Before moving the vehicle:
1. Check all mirrors.
2. Check the left blind spot.
3. Signal left to indicate your intention.
4. Select reverse gear.
5. Obtain clutch control (manual transmission).
6. Conduct a full 360-degree observation to ensure the area is clear.
2. Begin Reversing
Once it is safe to proceed:
7. Release the parking brake.
8. Move backwards slowly and under control.
9. Before turning into the bay, check the right blind spot to ensure no hazards are present.
10. Steer into the bay smoothly while continuing to observe all around the vehicle.
3. Secure the Vehicle
11. When the vehicle is completely within the demarcated bay:
12. Bring the vehicle to a complete stop.
13. Apply the parking brake.
14. Select neutral (manual transmission) or Park (automatic transmission).
15. Cancel the signal.
16. Wait for further instructions from the examiner.

Leaving the Bay
When instructed to leave the bay, follow the correct moving-off procedure.
1. Prepare to Move Off
Check all mirrors.
Check the appropriate blind spot in the direction you intend to move.
Signal in the direction of travel.
Select first gear (manual transmission) or Drive (automatic transmission).
Obtain clutch control (manual transmission).
Conduct a full 360-degree observation.
2. Move Out Safely
Release the parking brake.
Move forward carefully and exit the demarcated area while maintaining observation and vehicle control.
Cancel the signal once the maneuver has been completed and the vehicle is safely clear of the bay.
