Mount and Dismount
Side Stand Mount Procedure1. Unlock Steering:
Stand on the left-hand side of the motorcycle and unlock the steering column (if applicable).
2. Establish Control and Apply Front Brake:
Firmly grasp both handgrips and immediately apply the front brake lever.
K53 Note: The front brake must remain continuously applied throughout the mounting process to prevent any rolling.
3. Mount the Motorcycle:
Keeping your hands on the grips and the front brake fully engaged, balance on your left foot and carefully swing your right leg over the saddle to sit on the seat.
4. Right the Vehicle:
Bring the motorcycle into a balanced, upright position and straighten the front wheel.
5. Retract the Side Stand:
While maintaining strict balance and keeping the front brake firmly applied, use your left foot to return the side stand to its fully retracted and secure position.
Side Stand Dismount Procedure
1. Select Neutral and Check Stability:
Ensure the motorcycle is in neutral, completely stationary, and that the ground beneath you is firm and level.
2. Deploy the Side Stand:
While still seated and keeping the front brake firmly applied, fully extend the side stand with your foot.
3. Rest the Motorcycle and Turn the Wheel:
Carefully lower the motorcycle onto the side stand until it rests securely. Turn the handlebars fully to the left to lock the geometry for maximum stability.
4. Execute the "360" Observation:
Before moving your body to dismount, conduct a full "360" observation (checking your mirrors and blind spots) to ensure no moving traffic or hazards have approached.
5. Swing Leg Clear to Dismount:
Keeping the front brake applied and your hands on the handlebars, rise from the seat, balance on your left foot, and cleanly swing your right leg over the saddle to stand on the left side of the bike.
6. Confirm Security and Release:
Once both feet are on the ground, double-check that the motorcycle is completely stable before releasing the front brake lever and handgrips.
7. Engage Steering Lock:
Turn the ignition key to lock the steering column (if applicable) before walking away from the vehicle.
