Lane Change
The Lane Change exercise tests your ability to accelerate, upshift, and perform a controlled, sudden change of direction to the right while maintaining precise spatial awareness within strict track boundaries. The Procedure Step-by-Step
Follow this exact sequence of actions when instructed by the test examiner
1. Start at Point A.
Move on command.
The examiner will instruct you to move off on command from point "A" along the path in the direction of point "D".
2. Accelerate and Shift Up.
Upshift smoothly.
Accelerate cleanly along the initial straight path and change to a higher gear.
3. Begin the Lane Change.
Initiate the maneuver.
Before reaching point "C", you must deliberately steer to the right and cross over the right-hand side boundary line of the straight path between "A" and "C".
4. Execute Precision Lane Change.
Navigate the target zone.
Carry out the lane change toward the right point of "D". You must navigate this transition without crossing over line "O-P" and pass strictly to the left of that line.
5. Return to the Examiner.
Conclude the run.
Once the maneuver is complete, bring the motorcycle to a controlled stop and safely return to the examiner.
Critical Track Boundaries and Line Restrictions.
To avoid failing or losing valuable points during this exercise, pay strict attention to these two track rules,
1. The Left Boundary.
The left-hand side line of the straight path between point "A" and point "C" is a strict boundary, it may not be touched anywhere during the initial acceleration phase.
2. The Right Barrier (Line O-P).
As you swing out to the right toward point "D / K", you must keep the motorcycle positioned to the left of line "O-P". Crossing over line "O-P" will result in a penalty.
In Summary
1. Ensure that the following steps are followed for this procedure
2. Obey all the road traffic signs, signals, rules and markings
3. Check in the rear view mirrors and the appropriate blind spot
4. Steer to the selected lane if safe
5. Cancel the signal
