Traffic control signs and signals given by authorised persons are an important part of safe and lawful driving.
These instructions are used to regulate traffic flow, maintain safety, prevent congestion, and protect both road users and workers in potentially hazardous situations.
Drivers are legally required to obey these signals immediately and correctly.

Traffic control instructions may be given by:

Road construction or maintenance workers

Persons leading, driving, or riding animals
These individuals may use hand signals, flags, stop boards, whistles, or body movements to direct traffic. Their instructions always take priority over normal road signs, road markings, and even traffic lights when they are actively controlling traffic.

Procedure

1. Check Rear View Mirror and Appropriate Blind Spot

2. Signal Your Intention

3. Obey Any Traffic Control Signal

4. Check the Rear View Mirror Again

5. Decelerate or Brake if Necessary

6. Stop if Necessary

7. Select an Appropriate Gear

8. Observe
