Steady Green Traffic Lights
A green traffic light or green arrow indicates that you may proceed through the intersection in the direction shown.
However, having a green light does not automatically give you unrestricted right of way.
You must still:

Observe traffic conditions carefully

Give way to pedestrians crossing legally

Watch for vehicles already inside the intersection

Remain alert for approaching hazards
A driver should never assume that all other road users will obey traffic signals. Always proceed with caution and good observation.

Correct Procedure
1. Check the rearview mirror
Before approaching or proceeding through the intersection, check the rear-view mirror.
This helps you:

Monitor traffic behind you

Assess following distance

Prepare for braking or slowing down if necessary

2. Observe the Intersection Properly
As you approach the intersection:
Look:

Right

Left

Right again

Straight ahead

3. Check the Blind Spot
Check the appropriate blind spot before changing position or proceeding if necessary.

Changing lanes near the intersection

Turning at the intersection

Passing cyclists or motorcycles

4. Position the Vehicle Correctly
Keep the vehicle properly positioned within your lane.

5. Check the Rear-View Mirror Again
Before braking or adjusting speed, recheck the rear-view mirror.

6. Brake if Necessary
Even with a green light, you may need to slow down or brake.

7. Select the Appropriate Gear
Choose the correct gear based on:

Vehicle speed

Road conditions

Traffic flow

8. Observe 360 Degrees
Continue scanning all around the vehicle.
